Weekly Favourites # 23

I love half term but my visions of sunbathing in the garden and picnics on the common have been rudely washed away with the amount of rain that has poured this week. As I am continually optimistic that the sun will shine I have been continually caught out and now have an awful cold and feel rather sorry for myself. Although I am sure any sympathy you are feeling will shortly vanish when I talk about my week!

On Tuesday I met one of my best friends for a look around the Wedding Dress Exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum. I love looking at how fashion has developed through time however I was a little disappointed by the show as there were not many beautiful dresses to lust after. Instead the range was filled with extremes, which although was interesting it wasn't exactly what I expected. We then headed to Knightsbridge to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel to eat at the restaurant Dinner by Heston Blummenthal. Occasionally on the holidays we like to try somewhere completely different and with the lunchtime offers being so amazing holidays are the perfect opportunity. The food was insanely good and there was a relaxed but attentive atmosphere throughout the restaurant. I won't go into too much detail as I wrote about it yesterday, here.

On Wednesday the same friend and I met our mothers to head to Rocksalt in Folkestone for a delicious lunch followed by a bizzare art exhibition but more on that on Thursday's post! It was a beautiful day, despite the rain and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The rest of the week was spent sorting out the house as it is my boyfriend's birthday and his family visited for a surprise party on Saturday. Lots of my family members decided to be nosey and gatecrash so we ended up having about 20 people round. My mum cooked the most delicious side dishes and we barbecued a huge leg of lamb in spices. It was ridiculously good and I am definitely going to get some of those recipes up on here. I also joined the gym so fingers crossed I will get that bikini body soon!

Favourite product: My beloved Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair II is on its last legs and I have been putting off replacing it for so long due to the price but in House of Fraser on Friday there was an offer where there was £13 off! I quickly persuaded myself to ignore the promise I had made to buy no new skincare until the rest was used up and got the last large one. I recently wrote about my love for this product here, and I am so happy I have another bottle to last me through the summer.

Hope you have all had a good week too!
