Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation Review

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation Review

This foundation comes with rave reviews and I doubted that it would live up to the incredible hype. It has been on my wishlist for well over a year now and with Selfridges vouchers burning a hole in my pocket, I knew it was meant to be. I have had this foundation since November and can confidently declare my love for it as it really does live up to the hype!

It has a very sheer consistency that is much more watery than my current foundation of choice, the YSL Youth Liberator Foundation. However this allows you to either have a very sheer natural base when massaged in with fingers or you can build it with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush for a heavier coverage. The finish is just beautiful, it gives you that healthy glow from within without any shine, something I really detest. It really does just enhance your natural skin whilst covering any blemishes or marks.

The great thing about this foundation is it comes in a fantastic 21 shades. I am a 5.5 and the match is absolutely perfect, so flawless in fact that the sales assistant had to show her friend! The packaging is sleek and elegant and I love the glass bottle. Another wonderful thing is that the pump manages to dispense the perfect amount resulting in hardly any waste. But I think the best thing about this foundation is that it has no SPF, allowing no nasty white faces when used with a flash. This makes it my number one choice on a night out or when I know I will be photographed.

I know this is not cheap at £35.50 in Selfridges and it is hard to track down if you want to be matched at the counter but it is definitely worth it! If this price tag is too eye watering then Amelia has found a perfect dupe for £9.99 (see her post here), and although I have not tested this drugstore alternative I do trust her judgement completely.

What is your favourite foundation?

  2. I keep wanting to try this too! 21 shades sounds like a dream come true, if there's one thing I hate, it's brands that provide 4 shades of foundation and expect anyone to be able to get a decent match! x

  3. It sounds amazing, such a shame about the price tag, although I know which high end foundation I'll be trying when I get a job! xx

  6. I've been tempted to try this for a while now as loads of bloggers have been raving about it, just wonder if they will cater to my extremely pale skin tone though lol x

  7. For an every day look, which would be better? The luminous silk or the youth liberator? I want something light and natural but non greasy. Though i have some acne spots to cover.
