Battle of the Brows: Anastasia Brow Wiz vs Maybelline Master Shape Brow

Eyebrows are a part of the makeup routine that I think have really taken off over the last year or so, I think most beauty lovers consider it an essential when getting ready.

I have been using my Maybelline eyebrow pencil in soft brown for ages and have repurchased it numerous occasions. I normally use this followed by the Maybelline Brow Drama to ensure my eyebrows stay defined all day. Although I do love these products I wanted to compare it to a more high end version to see if there really was a difference. On twitter people were definitely recommending the Anastasia Brow Wiz (with Benefit being a close second) so I thought I would try it out. Also I tend to always opt for a pencil over a powder purely down to laziness!

My first impressions of this product were that it was very, and I mean extremely, skinny much more than I anticipated. I mean it really is tiny! Also the packaging is obviously much sleeker than the high street alternative, the black exterior avoids the grubby look the clear plastic ends always achieve. I was also surprised at how hard the pencil was. I am used to my Maybelline which is incredibly soft and you get much thicker lines, which can mean that the product is more noticeable. I do have to spend time using the spoolie after applications to ensure I have a more natural effect. The Anastasia has a much duller colour to it and the lines which are drawn are noticeably thinner helping to create the illusion of individual hairs. The Brow Wiz also does not need a sharpener as you can just twist for more product, genius for when you are travelling and do not have a sharpener to hand!

Both products come with spoolies on the end which allow you to brush through your brows both before and after application to achieve a very natural look. My Brow Wiz end always comes off with the packaging which I find very frustrating although it does make it easier to clean!

I must say that I do prefer the Anastasia, the finish is much more natural and you do not have to top up throughout the day. Although I have heard many bloggers complain at the speed they wiz through this product (pun intended) it is not as fast as my Maybelline. The Master Shaper is such a soft product I find myself sharpening it after every use and therefore it lasts only a month!  However there is a considerable price difference, with the Maybelline Master Shape retailing at £2.99 in Boots and the Anastasia Brow Wiz at £15.50 on Cult Beauty

What is your eyebrow product of choice?
