VICHY Normaderm Hyaluspot (Spot Treatment) Review

VICHY Normaderm Hyaluspot (Spot Treatment) Review
VICHY Normaderm Hyaluspot (Spot Treatment) Review

Vichy is a brand I have never properly tried but when Amelia from Liana-Beauty claimed she preferred this to the much hyped Origins Spot Remover, I knew I had to give it a try. My Origins has been dried up now for far too long and I wanted to try a cheaper alternative. Origins is £14 for 10ml whilst the Vichy is £10.50 for 15ml. It has been a good few months now and although the products are very similar I think I actually prefer the Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot Treatment

This product claims to form an invisible and protective film, which is enriched with hyaluronic acid, to protect the imperfection. Whilst it is protected the clear gel like formula can fight the blemish, reducing redness and stop other imperfections appearing.

This works impressively well! I had one of those awful under the skin blemishes beginning to form under the skin on my chin. I braced myself for it to painfully mature whilst daily applying this treatment and it never did! This has happened on a few occasions now so it must be doing something! The tube packaging makes it easy to carry around and I really love the metal tube which cools the gel before application.

However I would say that you should not apply this beneath your makeup as blending your base disrupts the protective film causing it to flake, not the most attractive look.

I really like these spot treatments and would definitely recommend this product.

What treatment do you use on blemishes?

Morning Skincare Routine

I am very  happy with my current skincare so I thought I would share with you what I use on a daily basis. I have split this into two parts, morning and evening, as I do use different products.

Cleanser

Super Facialist Una Brennan Rose Hydrate Calming Creamy Cleanser

First up I cleanse my skin with the gorgeous Super Facialist Una Brennan Rose Hydrate Calming Creamy Cleanser (what a mouthful) this is £7.99 in Boots and is a beautiful morning cleanser. I have written a more in depth post on my thoughts of it here, but basically I love it. It feels nourishing on the skin and has a slight hint of roses on application, what more could you want when you are bleary eyed wishing you were in bed! I usually wash this off with warm water and a flannel.

Toner

Next I like to tone my skin with a hydrating toner. If my skin feels particularly congested then I use my REN Clarifying Toning Lotion as this is a mild exfoliant toner which was recommended to be my Caroline Hirons, see more here. I then go in with either my Darphin Intral Tonique, which is my favourite although it is rather pricey and using it twice a day definitely isn't making it last. This was another recommendation from the lovely Caroline and more in-depth thoughts can be seen on the post above. It leaves my skin feeling so clean, refreshed and hydrated - I am also obsessed with the smell!

Other toners I reach for are ones that have been in my routine for years. The Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic which is floral scented and definitely refreshes and brightens my skin. This contains all natural ingredients and is a product I actually relish applying, sad I know. The final toner I love is the first one I used, the Dermalogica Multi Active Toner as this also contains natural products which leave your skin feeling soothed and hydrated.

Eyes & Serum

For my eyes I have been reaching for my Indeed Labs Eysilix ever since I saw it on Caroline Hirons blog. It claims to target fine lines, as well as reducing the appearance of puffiness and dark circles. I think it definitely lives up to these claims and I have repurchased it so many times I have lost count!

It is also great to get on offer with the Indeeds Labs Hydraluron, which I wrote about yesterday here. This little bottle of serum is perfect for dehydrated skin, as it is like a magnet for your moisturiser and holds up to 1000 times its weight in water. I have also found that as well as brightening my grey complexion it has also reduced the appearance of any scars I had. If you haven't tried it then I could recommend it enough.

Moisturiser

This seems like a very long post but this is the final step! No wonder my boyfriend always teases me about how many lotions and potions I own and use! My favourite moisturiser of the moment has to be the Origins GinZing. It is lightweight, refreshing, nourishing and smells utterly scrumptious, what more could you want? Read my review of it here

Now that seemed like a lot of products, but it takes no time at all and the difference in my skin since I started investing in skincare has been so noticeable  that I know I will now never miss a stage out.

What are your go to skincare morning products?

The Repurchase | Indeed Labs Hydraluron

 Indeed Labs Hydraluron

Indeed Labs Hydraluron is one product that I think I would walk straight past if it weren't for my avid reading of beauty blogs. I have been using this now for over a year and it wasn't until I (and every Boots I went into) ran out last month that I really noticed the difference.  If you suffer from dehydrated skin then this little beauty is the perfect serum for you. I pop it on in the mornings inbetween my toner and moisturiser, leaving me with plump glowing skin, perfect.

The majority of people will suffer from dehydrated skin at some point in their life regardless of what skin type they are. I find my skin to be particularly bad this time of year because of the horrendous weather, central heating, coffee to keep me awake once the sun has gone in and because however much I try I am just awful at drinking lots of water. Hydraluron contains hyaluronic acid, which allows your skin to hold over 1000 times its weight in water, pretty impressive really! We produce this naturally but it decreases dramatically with age so this little tube is wonderful! To read a more in-depth analysis about the product and causes of dehydrated skin then read Kat's amazing post here.

Swatch of Indeed Labs Hydraluron

This has a gel consistency which is easily absorbed into your skin, I use this every morning and have really noticed the difference. My skin has lost that dull washed out look and appears healthier and plumper. It has also helped reduce the appearance of some of my scars. The only thing I am not a fan of is the tacky consistency it leaves once you have massaged it into the skin but because I love the end result so much I can get over it. If you don't own this then I really think you should check it out, especially as Boots are holding their 3 for 2 offer at the moment!

What skincare product would you repurchase?

Weekly Favourites # 9

I have been on half term this week which has been rather heavenly but also very busy so I haven't had time to write all the posts I had planned- oops! On Monday I went for brunch with London Kat at Milk in Balham, quite possibly my favourite place to brunch! In the evening I joined her at The Hope in Wandsworth for the pub quiz, unfortunately we didn't win. Maybe next Monday will be out week - fingers crossed! On Tuesday my boyfriend and I went to the National Portrait Gallery in Trafalgar Square to see the Bailey's Stardust photography exhibition, but the real highlight has to be the lunch at the Cafe. The view and food were just divine and I really would recommend visiting. After I went to Muji for the beauty event and managed to grab a beauty bag, which contained some excellent storage as well as other goodies. My makeup stash looks much more organised now!

On Wednesday I was lucky enough to have a Healthy Beautiful Facial at Liz Earle at their Kings Road store. This was incredible! I have never felt so relaxed and pampered in my life, post to come soon. On Thursday I headed home to spend time with the family and catch up with friends. I have been rather busy which is why there are lots of posts coming soon. I am actually writing this with a rather fuzzy head due to a party last night. I can smell bacon cooking and I know we're are off to see my godparents in less than an hour. Unfortunately the boy is now on gardening leave for a while which means it is just me getting up in the morning. Not sure how much fun that will be...

Photographs: Liz Earle facial // One of my favourite statues on the Kings Road // View from the National Portrait Gallery Cafe // Another view shot // Muji goody bag items // Some of my makeup is now organised // Brunch at Milk // Beer Pong last night.

Posts this week have included: NYX Blush in Taupe - a perfect contour? // Brunch at Milk // NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer Review // National Portrait  Gallery Cafe

Favourite post:  Jenny's post about blogging on a budget was a post I found really interesting this week as it is something I can definitely relate to! Read it here

Favourite product: This week has definitely been a toss up between two new Revlon products. My Berry Smoothie Lip Butter, which is the perfect by lips but better colour and the bronze highlighter that looks gorgeous both on my cheekbones and eyelids! Keep your eyes peeled for a more in-depth review of the latter.

Hope you have all had a good week too!

National Portrait Gallery Cafe

During half term my boyfriend took time off work so we could have fun exploring London without the weekend rush. I love going to see photography exhibitions, every year I go to the National History Museum to see the wildlife photos as they are insane. Last week we decided to go see the Bailey's Stardust Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. If you like photography then you will love these, his style predominately throughout his career were black and wait portraits of various people and celebrities. The background is always white and the clarity of the muse's emotions is breath taking.

After feasting our eyes on exhibition we decided to eat at the cafe upstairs which is know for its amazing views across Trafalgar Square. We opted for the two course meal which was £25.00 and utterly delicious! We started with smoked mackerel on a potato salad and I followed it with corn fed chicken with a flageolet bean, fennel and chorizo stew - heavenly with the rainy weather outside!

Then we washed it down with carrot cake and coffee. It was such a lovely day and I would recommend both the cafe and the exhibition to anyone. The views are amazing and I loved having a wander around Trafalgar Square in the sunshine afterwards.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer Review

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer Review
I have so many concealers it is slightly ridiculous but I am still searching for my Holy Grail product. I love my Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, see my first ever post here about it, but although it is great at pinpoint concealing sometimes I want something a little more nourishing. The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer is a much hyped product in the beauty blogging world and many people claim it can be used for blemishes as well as dark circles, perfect for your makeup bag. Whilst waiting for a friend at Liberty's I decided to give it a whirl.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer Review

I got colour matched to Custard which is a relief as everyone seems to be Vanilla, which is constantly out of stock! The formula is very creamy and blends easily into the skin. It can be used for both under the eyes and over blemishes and does stay put all day, although I do not think the coverage is that great if the marks are dark. If my bags are particularly ghastly then I tend to go in with the Phwoarr Paint first, see review here and with blemishes I might pin point after with the Secret Camouflage to really get that flawless finish.

It has been compared lots to the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer but I think the NARS is considerably more nourishing and illuminating on the skin. There is no caky-ness, which I find a problem with the former, instead the NARS concealer blends seamlessly into the skin.

It really is a beautiful product and perfect for your makeup bag as it can be used to touch up all areas. I am really glad I purchased this although it is quite pricey at £22.00 in Liberty's.

What is your concealer of choice?

Brunch at Milk

Yesterday I met the lovely London Kat for brunch at one of my favourites places, Milk in Balham. If you have never been then I really cannot recommend it enough - although at weekends there is invariably a very long queue! I normally put my name down and then browse around some shops whilst I wait. The menu is simple and goes from brunch into lunch, with delicious specials every day. I love the relaxed atmosphere, quirky style and the utterly scrumptious food!

NYX Taupe Blush Review - A Perfect Contour?

NYX Taupe blush

I do not posses the most chiselled of cheekbones and have had my eye on both MAC Harmony (£18) and the Kevyn Aucoin Scuplting Powder (£35) for a while now. However both of these have considerable price tags so when I saw people talking about the NYX Taupe blush (£6) I knew I had to give the cheaper alternative a chance.

Weekly Favourites # 8

This week started very well. I decided to meet my friend for a catch up over wine and nibbles at The Sun in Clapham Common - it has a delicious range of bar snacks if you're ever in that area! As we were making our way through the wine we noticed that Tate Donovan had walked in. (He was Joshua in friends and Marissa's Dad in The OC.) My friend was straight over for a chat and he was really lovely. Apparently he is in London for the new series of 24. On Wednesday I went to Bunga Bunga for their pizza and opera night with people from school. The pizzas are delicious and having someone serenade you whilst you ate was rather lovely! It is a really fun place and if you have never been then you should. Keep your eyes peeled for a more detailed post!

I got thoroughly spoilt on Valentines Day, it is not normally a day I pay much attention to but this year the boy did well! He secretly booked the day off work so he could cook me a three course meal. I came back from work to find the flat clean, candles lit, roses in a vase and a delicious cocktail waiting for me. He then served lots of delicious handmade treats and I didn't have to lift a finger. Made me feel slightly guilty that I hadn't even got him a card!

Finally the week has been rounded up with friends coming round for cocktails, wine, food and fun. I love hosting dinner parties and just wish I had more chairs so I could invite more people! The boy cooked again (I think we are in the minority as we actually argue over who will do the cooking!) and created a scrumptious Cassoulet. It was a ridiculously fun week and I am now off to a friend's birthday party followed by half term - bliss!

Battle of the Brows: Anastasia Brow Wiz vs Maybelline Master Shape Brow

Eyebrows are a part of the makeup routine that I think have really taken off over the last year or so, I think most beauty lovers consider it an essential when getting ready.

L'Oreal Mega Volume Miss Manga Mascara Review

I have extremely sensitive eyes which can put me off High Street mascaras as you cannot test before your buy.  However I have been huge fans of the L'Oreal telescopic and False Lash Flutter so when I saw this new release which promised cartoon-esque eyes I couldn't resist!

200 Follower Giveaway

I would just like to say thank you so much for all the support I have received since entering the blogging world a few months ago! I have had so much fun and now I can't stop thinking why didn't I do this years ago when I first became addicted to reading blogs! I was planning on doing a giveaway for reaching 100 followers but it came and went far too fast and I was woefully unprepared.

I chose NARS Laguna Bronzer as not only is it one of my favourite products but it also was one of the first beauty items I bought from blog recommendations!  Read my review of it here. Unfortunately this is a UK ONLY competition and thank you again for supporting me on this new venture!

Revlon Lip Butters

Picture of Candy Apple and Peach Parfait

I love these products however recently I found myself choosing my huge hoard of lip crayons over them. Does anyone else find that although you love a product it soon gets shoved to the back of your storage for a newer shinier alternative and then they magically disappear? This was the case of the lip butters so when I was last in Boots I decided that although banning myself from new purchases I would treat myself to some more. The colour I particularly love wasn't there so I decided to pick up Candy Apple and Peach Parfait.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation Review

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation Review

This foundation comes with rave reviews and I doubted that it would live up to the incredible hype. It has been on my wishlist for well over a year now and with Selfridges vouchers burning a hole in my pocket, I knew it was meant to be. I have had this foundation since November and can confidently declare my love for it as it really does live up to the hype!

Yacht Week Croatia | Part 4

Day 6

Day 6 was another highlight for me, despite not starting that well. Whilst we sailed to the next place to moor we napped and sunbathed on the boat. Due to the laziness of our skipper we did however miss the blue and green caves which are supposed to be spectacular and we missed all the doughnut parties, again supposed to a highlight of the week! We missed these despite having exact co-ordinates of where they were due to friends. Lets just say arguments occurred, a line was drawn and we moved on.

The penultimate night was at a bay where almost all the boats on the trip moored up in a giant semi circle. All inflatables were thrown in the middle, drinks and fun were shared.

Yacht Week Croatia | Part 3

Day 5 - Hvar

This definitely was the best day of the holiday. We FINALLY got a place on the dock, which meant we had water and electricity! After lunch we went on the booze cruise, which I cannot recommend enough. I didn't actually drink that much but instead cemented new friendships and danced the afternoon away in the sunshine.

Yacht Week Croatia | Part 2

Day 3 - Komiza

The next day (a little late due to anchor problems) we sailed onto this little village the other side of Viz. This was a beautiful quaint village where you could have a wander and gorge yourself with delicious ice-cream. In the evening we were moored next to a fantastic bunch of Australian boys who definitely drank us under the table!

Tanya Burr’s Lips and Nails Line

Although I was unable to attend Tanya Burr’s lips and nails launch party I do have a lovely friend who did, read all about her amazing time there here. Her delightful sister was kind enough to let me have her goodie bag and inside were two nail varnishes and two lip glosses and I could not wait to try them.
