Christmas Party Makeup

Whenever I do this type of post I am always shocked by how many products I actually use to create one look! I love having a nose at the makeup people use so though I would share with you what I wore last night to a Christmas party. The look was based around the very red Apocalips in 400 Big Bang so I wanted to keep the rest fairly minimal.

Base

I choose to use a combination of these two primers to ensure my foundation lasted all evening. The Rimmel Fix & Perfect is a fairly new addition and I have to say I am very impressed! It definitely blurs imperfections and my foundations seems to last a lot longer with it. I decided to add in my much loved L'Oreal Lumix, as you can see the writing has nearly all rubbed off the packaging! I always add it to areas I want to highlight on nights out as under foundation it leaves a beautiful glow. My foundation of choice was the trusted NARS Sheer Glow in Santa Fe. This foundation is good coverage and photographs beautifully. I tend to just use my fingers to massage these products into the skin as I love the finish it gives and I am lazy so I try to keep brushes to a minimum!

To conceal I used my Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in 03, more on my love for this product and brand here. Under my eyes I used the Seventeen Phwoarr Paint in Medium, and the L'Oreal Touche Magique to highlight. I use this combination every day and love the result. My weapons of choice are unsurprisingly both Real Technique brushes. The purple is a dome shadow brush and I am not sure what the other is called as the writing has unfortunately rubbed off.

I then used my BYTerry powder with a Real Techniques Expert brush to ensure my skin won't get too shiny, which always tends to happen on nights out. This also keeps your foundation in place for the whole day, an absolute winner! I have gone into more detail here about this product. I then contoured using the RT contour brush and the Sleek palate in Light. Next I added some colour to my cheeks with the Rimmel blush in Santa Rose. I have used this blush everyday for about 2 years and love it. I have only just repurchased it as I lost my previous one, I was pretty annoyed as even after 2 years I had hardly made a dent on the product! I used my RT blush brush to apply this to my cheekbones.

Eyes

I started with the Maybelline 24 Hour Tattoo eyeshadow in 05 Eternal Gold, this eyeshadow has a creamy formula and is fantastic as a base. It is highly pigmented and glittery, making it a perfect Christmas eyeshadow. I then used the darkest shade in my Decadent Revlon Colorstay palate to gently define my crease using the much loved MAC 217 brush. On the top of my eyelashes I used the Maybelline gel eyeliner in brown, this is such a lovely creamy formula and I find it lasts really well. In my waterline I used the Rimmel Scanaleyes in 012 Bronze which is a coppery brown colour with a small amount of glitter running through it. I find it compliments my blue eyes perfectly. Finally I curled my eyelashes and applied layers and layers of the L'Oreal Falselash Flutters mascara.

Brows

As you might be able to tell I love the Maybelline brow pencil in soft brown as the colour is perfect and I love the brush on the end, very useful. I then keep them in place with the Maybelline Brow Drama in Medium Brown.

Lips

I first tried this product when London Kat wore it to the Christmas party and instantly fell in love with it. The very next day I went to Boots to purchase it and on a night out it has not left my lips since. First, I line my lips with this red lip liner from Collection, it is very old so I am not sure if they still make it. Then I carefully put the Lip Laquer on top. The finish is glossy and beautiful, it also has incredible lasting power. Perfect!

What makeup did you use for your Christmas party?
