Review | YSL Youth Liberator Foundation

A picture of the foundation case.

NARS Sheer Glow has been my upscale foundation of choice, the one you reach for when you just don’t want a drugstore alternative especially on a night out. However recently I have been wanting to try something new.

I spent weeks debating between purchasing the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk and the Laura Mercier Silk Creme, both of which are loved by my favourite beauty bloggers. I even went to Selfridges to try the Luminous Silk but it wasn’t as life changing as the hype made it out to be and after much deliberation I decided to return to buy another day. I then heard about the new YSL Youth Liberator which boasts high coverage and brightness combined with skin care ingredients. At this time my skin was not looking its best so on a complete whim I went and bought it. I fear this happens way to often and not always with the best results.

The woman in Debenhams matched me at BD50, which I did protest was a little too dark however she persuaded me it was perfect. I tend to wear this when I am out somewhere nice all day and want an even finish. I wouldn’t say I completely love it but it does feel lovely when you massage it into the skin. I always use my fingers, mostly due to laziness than anything else. I think because I am used to tinted moisturisers this does feel very full coverage on the face, however the final result is flawless and I do receive compliments on my skin whenever I wear it. I would also like to add my skin is very sensitive and I think the breakouts could have been caused by my new (and rather excessive) Bourjois purchases. However now it has completely cleared up so I think those added skincare benefits must be doing something right!

What do you think of this new YSL foundation?
What is your favourite foundation?
