Review | ByTerry Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder

The other day I was lucky enough to not only have a day off but to also spend a rather overdue Harrods gift card. This was an extremely generous Christmas gift from a boy I taught last year - I did say it was overdue! I love visiting Harrods around Christmas time, the whole experience is just enjoyable and if you have never been it is an absolute must to get you into the festive spirit. I always find the people in Harrods to be incredibly efficient and friendly.

Harrods a night
The first thing I bought was a new perfume and this is a scent I think I will always repurchase - Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel. It is a beautiful perfume which never fails to bring a smile to my face. I bought the 30ml on the justification it would easily fit in my handbag however deep down I knew it was not the case; it was in fact so I could splurge on some beauty products relatively guilt free! My first stop was Laura Mercier to repurchase one of their Secret Camouflage Concealers, see post here

I was then left wandering with money to spend, which is always dangerous. What I have my heart set on is one of the Hourglass powder, preferably in Diffused Light or even that gorgeous palate. Lusting over Kat's definitely has not quelled my desire for it. However there is not an Hourglass counter at Harrods. After much wandering I kept finding myself at the ByTerry counter playing with their Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder. In the end it proved far too tempting.

This product has had mixed reviews so far but I was definitely impressed the first time I wore it, in fact I could not believe the difference it made. The half of my forehead which had the product on looked considerably more airbrushed than the side without it! The product is a white powder which when buffed into the skin blurs any imperfections and minimises the appearance of any pores. I use a Real Techniques Expert Brush to gently press the powder into my skin.

I wore this on a night out at the weekend and it definitely kept my makeup in place far longer than any powder I have tried thus far. I had on my Laura Mercier Radiance Primer and my YSL Youth Liberator Foundation and I found this powder whilst eradicating any shiny patches (which I am prone too) on photographs, still allowed a healthy glow to come through. So far I am very impressed, the only downfall is the price, I think if I did not have the voucher then £42 is a lot to spend on a powder!

Have you tried this product, if not what is your favourite powder?

  1. I've had my eyes on the hourglass palettes for a while now as well, maybe Santa will treat me?

I quite like the sound of the powder, currently working my way through the Laura Mercier loose setting powder which does something similar. Reckon I'll give the ByTerry a go next.

  2. I know I have put it on my wish list for Christmas too. Fingers crossed! I love the ByTerry but it is a very matt finish, I tend to only put it on certain areas of my face now. x
